weekend schmooze 004
Happy New Year, everyone! I'm still getting back to my normal routines after the holiday season, so the past week has been uneventful. Not boring, but uneventful. I mostly stayed at home organizing a lof of things for the new year, such as my planner, budget and work worksheets, and ran a few errands.
New Year's Eve ended up being better than expected (or not as bad). We had a long lunch at my mother-in-law's place and then went home to bake some cheddar and raspberry jam pastries—which turned out amazing—for dinner at our friend's place. Since we arrived at dinner time, by the time we cleaned the table it was already close to 11 pm, so we ended up having some nice conversations before celebrating and starting the new year with some Mario Kart races.
Overall, it served as a reminder to myself that being with other people isn't always a pain in the ass. Sometimes, if I'm in the mood, it can even be an enjoyable experience.
But only sometimes. You still won't find me being surrounded by 10+ people every week. I'm not a masochist.
With that being said, let's do a recap of the past week.
📚 Reading
- Caught up with my Wallabag's article list! Hooray! I'm now up do date and have been reading most of the saved articles at night, leaving the longer ones for the weekend.
- Still reading "História do Novo Nome", the second book on Elena Ferrante's Neapolitan Novels series. It's been taking longer to read than I expected since I've been more in the mood to read articles than books, but I'm sure I'll get around it soon. I also have to return "The Waiting" to the library next week. I'll get to that in the next days.
🎧 Listening
- Other than the albums that I get from One Album a Day, I've been listening to my Liked Songs playlist from Spotify on shuffle, hence the resurfacing of "Mulder and Scully" What a banger!
📺 Watching
- Only watched a couple of episodes of Midnight Diner S2. I may change my opinion later on, but now that I'm close to S3 of the original series, I think I enjoy it even more than Netflix's reboot.
🚲 Wandrering
- Discovered 1.13 new kilometers on December 30th, but I'm yet to ride this year. It's been really cold and I haven't felt like it.
- Also, on a more positive note, I've been sore (in a good way!) since getting back to my Pump workouts after a month long break.
🔗 Linkipedia
- I still have a lot of catching up to do in my RSS feeds, but I'm enjoying doing it slowly, hence the lack of blog posts this week. Still, I really enjoyed Brandon's Personal Year in Review. I enjoy this kind of honest posts, almost like writing an open journal.
- "Bamboo bonanza: how a village in India used its forest to go from poverty to prosperity" by The Guardian.
- "Man-Made Structures Now Outweigh the Mass of the Living World" shared by Jason Kottke.
- "Embroidery Journaling" also shared by Jason Kottke.
