weekend schmooze 008
I've had more work in the past two weeks than in the previous two and a half months, so I didn't do a lot this week other than working and relaxing at night. Knowing myself, I know I'll power through these next two weeks and be happy that I did later on, but I might also crash out for a few days afterwards. It's like I move all the stress to an unknown date in the calendar when I'm no longer pressured by work and then feel it all at once. I wish it did not happen this way, and I guess it's nice to be aware of it, but I really hate the way I feel during that day or two where I can't do anything apart from veg out. I consider it to be the blessing and the curse of being a freelancer, especially if you're me.
📚 Reading
Still reading "História de Quem Vai e de Quem Fica", the third volume of Elena Ferrante's Neopolitan Novels.
Started reading The Book of George by Kate Greathead. I like reading two or three books at the same time. I've only read the first chapters, but it seems like it's going to be an interesting book.
📺 Watching
- I'm officially a "Joe Pera Talks with You" fan. It's the only show I've seen this week. I'm already on S02E05. It's such a cozy show. And yes, I've been thinking about Carrington Events often.
- Watched "The Brutalist" at the cinema on Saturday. February has just began and I've been to the cinema more times than I did in 2024. Regarding the movie, it was... okay? I liked the first part, but I didn't really enjoy the second part. Still, great performances, and I'm surprised they did it with a budget of 10 million dollars.
🚲 Wandrering
- Again, no wandrering this week, just the usual errands and shopping trips. The weather has been quite shitty in Lisbon (except on Friday). Have I mentioned that I hate riding in the wind?

- Things I love: Casio Digital Watches by Froey. The Casio F-91W is the only watch I own, and I love it for its simplicity. It tells me the time and date, and that's what I expect from a watch. Still, Froey had introduced me to the CA-53W and I thought having a calculator in your watch is super cool!
- Translated Japanese fiction reading list by James, who has shared a wonderful list from which I've added a few books to my to-read list. I would recommend Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto.
