weekend schmooze 009
The past three weeks have been a blur. I've been working my ass off and haven't had a full day off in weeks. I'm tired as fuck and I hate the fact that I feel so tired due to spending nine, ten, eleven hours a day looking at a computer screen. The current state of affairs isn't helping as well. Would it be too much to ask of our global leaders to stop the coup in the US and stop importing Nazi shit into Portugal/Europe as well? Thank you. That would really help me, since I have to write words on a screen so that other people can ignore them on their TVs while they're scrolling TikTok/Instagram.
Still, I wanted to dedicate some minutes of my week to writing this post. At least I know that the time I spend writing this isn't wasted watching news over something I have no control over or scrolling Reddit. This will a slower week for Linkipedia as my RSS feed has been on the sidelines, but hopefully next week will be better.
Here's to happier days! Or at least not so stressful/exhausting.
📚 Reading
- Still reading "História de Quem Vai e de Quem Fica", the third volume of Elena Ferrante's Neopolitan Novels. I'm about 70% done with it. I don't want to jinx it, but so far, each volume has been better than the previous one. I gifted the first volume to my mother-in-law over Christmas and she's also hooked to it.
📺 Watching
- A slower week when it comes to watching TV, as the idea of spending more time staring at a screen after work makes me feel sick. Still, I've watched "Joe Pera Talks with You" and we caught up with "Abbott Elementary". Joe Pera's character has been quite helpful during these stressful times.
- We had tickets for "Licorice Pizza" on Tuesday, and even though I was exhausted, I'm happy I didn't skip the movie. I had never seen it and I enjoyed watching it, even if I got a little bit weirded out by the age gap the next day. But hey, it was the 70s and to be honest, my brain feels so mushy that I can't put many thoughts in to that.
🚲 Wandrering
- No wandrering this week (again). Just did a few errands/shopping trips. I need to get out of the house more often. In part, I know that's one of the reasons why I've been feeling down.
🔗 Linkipedia
- Copyright reform is necessary for national security by Anna's Archive. I'll preface this by saying that I don't hate AI, but I do hate all the AI companies I've met so far. This article was published last week, at the height of Open AI's complaints about Deepseek stealing from them, which was ironic to say the least. While I don't agree with Anna's Archive decision to let companies use their data to train their LLMs—and I don't have to agree because it's not my data—I do understand the points they've made.
