weekend schmooze 012
I'm coming to you once again on a Monday. I may actually move these to Mondays, since I'm trying to avoid sitting at my desk on weekends. Due to my father's current situation and overall attempts to stay away from the Internet lately, I haven't been reading any feeds or finding cool links to share. I'm hoping to take to some baby steps back into it this week, so stay tuned for the next schmooze!
Updates on my father's work accident: tomorrow we'll know if/when he'll have surgery. The only thing the CT Scan technician told him after the scan on Saturday was, "Nice pictures... Your doctor will explain everything to you" which doesn't sound good? Anyway, his leg is in a cast, and he's only suffering pain while getting up and down. He's always in a good mood, which I'm sure will help him to recover.
It's been surprisingly nice to visit Santarém (my hometown) every week. I love to take the train. I think it is the only place where I can focus and read for one hour straight.
I had no work for the past week after having a crazy start of the year. While it felt good to fix up some things at our home and run a few errands, I know I'll start to get antsy if I don't pick up any work-related tasks this week.
📚 Reading
- Read O Mangusto, a Portuguese graphic novel by Joana Mosi
- Finished História da Menina Perdida, the final volume of Elena Ferrante's Neapolitan Novels. If you like stories that center around character development, I would say this is a good series for you. I don't want to spoil anyone, so I won't get into more details, but feel free to reach out if you want to talk about it!
📺 Watching
- Finished watching Detroiters. Cool little show!
- Caved in after being disappointed with the last episodes of the previous series of Dexter and started watching Dexter: Original Sin after seeing that they apparently did not screw up the final this time. The casting similarities are uncanny, and I love the intro, which is similar to the original one! Has anyone read the books? I'm thinking about reading them.
- This weekend, we watched Anora, which I found okay.
- But we also saw Conclave which I enjoyed!
